Weeding and sowing

Sowed seven butternut squash in modules and 5cm pot.
Planted seedtray of red salvia.
The seedtray of lobelia are showing. The sowing is quite dense, so some thinning will be required soon.
Hoed weeds behind the vege patch and under the grapefruit. Sprayed the remainder with Roundup.
Weeded the hellebores in the front. They are doing well. Calendula bed weeded, and the calendula are flowering. The calendula in the front bed will flower soon.
The hibiscus in the front by the hedge are not doing well. There is one with some leaves and one with no leaves but a shoot at the tip. The other two are dead.

Building a coldframe

The lobelia sown last weekend are beginning to show. Coriander is sprouting nicely now.

Finished building a coldframe, 120cm x 90cm x 70cm. I made the mistake of building the front and back first, then attached the sides. It would be better to do the sides first as they are more complex. A flat at the top allows the lid to be easily hinged.

Moved the marigold seedlings and some other into the frame to make space in the garage.

Sowing lobelia

Sowed one large seedtray of lobelia. Its a fiddly little seed.
Pricked out a dozen onion seedlings, which are beginning to show.
Cut back the parsley, which is beginning to bolt.
Took three divisions off the marjoram.
